The Opportunity Operations Department | Permanent Full-Time Position |Monday-Friday | 7:30am-5:30pm
Lacombe County is seeking a skilled and dedicated Service Hand to join our Operations Department. Reporting to the Shop Supervisor, the Service Hand will work alongside the Road Mechanic, assisting with mechanical repairs, servicing, and maintaining a variety of equipment, including road construction and farm machinery. This role is ideal for someone with a strong mechanical aptitude who thrives in a hands-on environment and is committed to safety and teamwork. A valid Class 3 Alberta Driver’s License with a Q endorsement is required. Starting wage: $32.57/hr.

Key Responsibilities
• Assist the Road Mechanic in checking the equipment for proper performance, and inspect and troubleshoot the equipment systems.
• Assist the Road Mechanic in developing work scopes and schedules for the repair and maintenance of the equipment.
• Perform washing and cleaning of the equipment as directed.
• Operate the fuel and lube truck as necessary.
• Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports. Fill out work orders, fuel/oil records and oil samples as necessary.
• Participate in workplace safety initiatives and meetings as required. Report to work fit for duty.
Key Qualifications
• Technical Skills: Knowledge of the maintenance and service requirements of heavy equipment. Experience operating a fuel/lube truck is an asset. Able to demonstrate care and usage of company tools and equipment to assist with Heavy Duty Equipment Technician tasks, while adhering to safe operating procedures.
• Driver’s License: Possess and be able to maintain a valid Class 3 Alberta Driver’s License with Q endorsement (current abstract required upon hire).
• Communication & Teamwork: Strong ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Proven ability to interact professionally and respectfully with colleagues and supervisors while working collaboratively in a team environment.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to perform heavy lifting of up to 80lbs, and able to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Must be able to climb ladders and into equipment for servicing and fueling.
